Frequently Asked Questions - Family
I carry out most of my photoshoots outdoors in locations that are beautiful and provide my clients with gorgeous shots of their families. I encourage families to think about the sort of backdrop that they like, whether that’s the beach, a bush setting, botanic gardens, backyard, vineyard, local park or field. Adelaide has many locations & I am happy to discuss or brainstorm ideas!
This will definitely need to be taken into consideration for easy access & mobility. I am more than happy to work out the best location to suit all of your family members from the kids through to the Grandparents!
This is my most common question – I guide people to wear soft pastel, neutral colours so they compliment each other and a natural backdrop. Bold bright colours will work, depending on the location, such as an urban shoot. Words & brand/logos on clothing are best to be avoided. In terms of clothing type – comfortable items that you feel you can be you! Shirts for women can be tricky when holding young children as they tend to bunch up easily and can be restrictive around the arms. Ask Carly for a clothing guide and she will email you one.
Family photoshoots* are:
Immediate family 3-5 persons $150
Extended family 5-15 persons $190
Request a quote for larger groups.
*Photoshoot cost only, products/ digital images etc are purchased separately. Prices vary. Digital image collections start at $250 for 10 > $650 for the full collection for a small family.
With a small family photoshoot I like to allow a good 60 minutes. With young children I work quickly but will incorporate some relaxed play shots as this is when some of the best images happen!
I will try to do as many combos as we can fit into the photoshoot. I love to provide a good range of images to my clients so you have plenty of choice. With extended family shoots I encourage you to write a basic list of essential combos and we can add more as we go along. I can also guide you on different combos to maximise your photoshoot.

Frequently Asked Questions - Headshots
Prior to your photoshoot I will run through where you plan to use your images, your ‘target market’ you want to appeal to. I encourage you to dress comfortably in clothes that make you feel confident and most like you! (We all know what suits us!). Clothing can also depend on your location. Chat with me prior and we can discuss ideas.
Again this will depend on your industry, your goals of where you want to use the photos and what you want them to represent. Locations can be varied from urban, using building and textures to our advantage or natural backdrops for a softer look. Let’s discuss your ideas & go from there.
I encourage all of my clients to mix it up. I love a good smile but it’s a matter of getting a range of shots from smiling to more serious (without looking bored!). As we go along in the photoshoot I will show you what I am capturing so you get a feel for how you are posing and coming across and discuss the shots with you.
I love working with clients to create a mix of shots where we mix up their hands and arms. Body language is important in an image and it’s a matter of playing here with a variety of poses. I encourage you to just try different things and will give you feedback as we go. I have a lot of different ideas and different poses suit different people. The key here is to just relax and give different things a go. You might be surprised at the results!
Yes, I hear you. Even as a photographer, I too don’t particularly like having my photo taken either! But I guarantee that you will walk away feeling relaxed and surprised about how enjoyable it was. I will talk you through what I am seeking in my photoshoot and provide you with guidance and direction. With 20 years of wedding photography experience I feel I have a good understanding of body language and also making my clients super relaxed. And if need be I can do some relaxation hypnotherapy to help you feel more at ease.
Frequently Asked Questions - Event Photography
Event photoshoots can be varied from Special Birthday Celebrations, Wedding Anniversary Parties, Engagement Parties, End of Year Sports Club Presentations Balls & Formal Events. Generally events with lots of people & where there are speeches or special things being carried out.
With event photography I tailor my hours to suit your event. Generally I will work for 2 hours up to 5 to capture your event and all the guests.
No worries. I will talk you through your event and find out what is planned, discuss other shot ideas (such as pre-event guest drinks), small groups, table shots, room set up. As well as all of the important things that are happening during the event.
Again this will depend on what you are after for time and images. Chat with me and I can provide you with a quote.
